New Mass Schedule Begins This Week

Just a reminder …

The new Mass schedule for Sacred Heart Rockne and St. Mary’s String Prairie begins this weekend.

Weekend Masses for Sacred Heart Rockne are Saturday at 6:30 PM and Sunday at 8:00 AM.

St. Mary’s String Prairie Mass is Sunday at 10:00 AM.

Volunteers (Adult and Children) Needed for Spring Festival

I am contacting you to request your help with a very important task at the Parish Spring Festival.

The Spring Festival is the principal fundraiser for the Religious Education Program. For years the younger children of the Parish have volunteered at the Festival Meal Service. The children help clear the plates from the tables, allowing our guests to relax and visit with friends.

This is a very important job as it sets the atmosphere of hospitality and friendship. The task also emphasizes to the students the value of service.
We are looking for 36-48 volunteers to help in the course of the meal service. We are trying to have the list of volunteers put together by May 9th, so if you could check your calendars and get back with me as soon as possible, it would be appreciated.

We need 4 shifts of workers , 4 teams of workers per shift. We are also looking for a few adult volunteers, so if you want to volunteer while your child works that would be great! If older brothers and sisters want to help that would be great too.

The Festival is always a great testament to the cooperation of our Parishioners. Let’s keep that tradition in place and start sharing with our children the reward of being an active participant!

We hope everyone has a blessed and happy Easter as we commemorate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ!


Vacation Bible School – Mark Your Calendars

Rockne VBS will be July 21-25, 2014, so mark your calendar! Children age 5 through eighth grade are eligible to participate. All volunteers please see the EIM message.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Egg Hunt for all children will be Sunday, April 13, at 2:00 p.m., at Hilbig Park, at 4065 FM 535, just north of the Church.  The CCE 7 – 12 grade students and Catholic Life Insurance Branch 12 will be hosting the event.  Parents bring your children and grandchildren, join the fun, and visit with the Easter bunny.  Students are asked to come at 1:30 p.m. to help hide the eggs.

Parish Pancake Supper

Parish Pancake Supper will be Saturday, March 29 after 6:30 p.m. Mass (about 7:30 p.m.).  Grades 7 ‑ 12 students will be providing pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice.  No charge for supper, but donations will be accepted.  Donations will be given to helping the needy families in our area.

At the Pancake Supper on March 29, there will be discussion groups available for reflection for Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic.  This is the book that was handed out at Christmas Masses in our parish.  If you have not read this interesting book yet, read the first chapter and come share your thoughts.

Benefit for Warren & Sandy Goertz Family

There will be a benefit for Warren & Sandy Goertz next Sunday, March 23, in Holtman Hall.  Free-will donation B-B-Que starting at 11:00 a.m. and auction begins at 1:00 p.m.  For more contact information, please see parish bulletin.

Texas STRONG Team Student Retreat

Grade 9 – 12 Student Retreat will be on Saturday, March 22, in Holtman Hall and presented by the University of Texas STRONG Team.  Confirmation students are required to attend and grades 11 and 12 are encouraged to attend.  Please return parental permission papers to the Wedesday, March 19 class or by email to Jackie May.  The Retreat will start at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast snacks.  Dismissal will be 8:30 p.m.

Why Wait in Your Car?

Wednesday nights February 19 and 26, local Zumba instructor, Tracy Bartsch will lead Zumba sessions at 7:30 p.m. in Holtman Hall.  Many of our Religious Education parents wait for their students in their cars, some walk or jog while waiting.  Get out of your car and experience the fun and great exercise that Zumba provides.  All parishioners, friends and family are welcome.  First class is free, donations of $5 per class are suggested and will be donated back to Sacred Heart Church.  If interest is exhibited, we hope that we will be able to have the class several Wednesdays, at least the 3rd and 4th of each month.

Spiritual Empowered Conference

Don’t miss this year’s Spiritual Empowered Conference sponsored by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Diocese of Austin, (CCRA).  Among the speakers, Fr. John Kim, Fr. Robert Becker, Carmen Frankel and Dr. Geri Telepak, they will address the theme of “Be Empowered by the Holy Spirit with Healing Grace Victoriously in Christ.”  Learn how to be empowered in the spiritual gifts God has given you for spiritual growth, evangelizing, teaching and edifying the body of Christ.  Friday, March 7, 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 8:30a.m. to 10:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Parish Hall, 1206 East 9th Street.  Conference details and registration on-line at
